ABOUT US

51 West is more than a beautiful wedding venue, party venue or location for a company conference.  51 West is a snapshot of history.  Built in the early 1900’s it one of a diminishing number of original buildings in the Frankfort Historic District.   Longtime residents still reminisce about shopping in Coutler's for furniture when they were children and into the 50’s and 60’s.

In 1984, the first floor was converted into a “mini mall’.  Typical of the time period, the ceilings were lowered to 9 foot and a more modern feel was created with a large central hallway and 3 stores on each side including a hair salon, doll shop and CPA office.

The year 2000 brought yet another owner as the downtown slowly deteriorated.  The United Way of Clinton County purchased the building and leased/shared space with various not-for-profit organizations.

In 2014, small efforts were already underway to revitalize the Historic District. The building was acquired by the current owner, Jill Snyder, for the purpose of having a wedding venue and banquet hall that could rival the elegance of a metropolitan area venue.  To restore the beauty and elegance of this grand lady, the office spaces and first floor ceiling rafters were carefully deconstructed with emphasis on reclaiming and reusing as much of the original wood as possible.

A hidden gem of the "Gem City", guests at 51 West are charmed by the attention to details.   From the rich woodwork and doors to the high ceilings with unique lighting fixtures and the stately staircase, 51 West is more than a Banquet Hall, Ballroom Rental or location for a Company Conference.

51 West is Downtown Elegance…Unforgettable Events.
